OXNARD : Residents Get Tips on Holiday Trash
- Share via
While a countywide effort is under way to recycle Christmas trees, the city of Oxnard wants people to know that much of the trash generated by Christmas and Hanukkah gift packaging cannot be recycled.
The city’s refuse division is asking residents to dispose of the following items in the trash and not in curbside recycling containers: wrapping paper, gift boxes, greeting cards, styrofoam packing material, shoe boxes, most toy boxes, plastic toy packaging and wrapping paper tubes.
However, corrugated cardboard packaging--the kind used for television sets, stereos or video recorders--can be recycled, officials said.
For more information, call the Oxnard refuse division at 385-8060, and for other cities call the countywide recycling consortium’s 24-hour recycling hot line at 654-3935.
