Actor Todd Bridges Arrested; Police Say Car Held Drugs, Gun
Actor Todd Bridges was arrested Tuesday after officers discovered methamphetamines and a loaded gun in his car, the Burbank Police Department said.
Detectives stopped the 27-year-old co-star of the series “Diff’rent Strokes” about 1 p.m. at Burbank Boulevard and Hollywood Way where they found the gun and 1.5 grams of methamphetamines in his 1988 Mercedes, Lt. Art Moody said. Bridges was also believed to be under the influence of methamphetamines at the time of his arrest, Moody said.
Bridges was arrested on suspicion of transporting narcotics for sale and possession of a loaded firearm and released on $10,000 bail Tuesday, Moody said. Arraignment was scheduled Thursday, Moody said.
After making the arrest in Burbank, detectives also served a search warrant at the actor’s home in the 10000 block of Dora Street in Sun Valley, Moody said.
Virginia Sargent, 19, was taken into custody at the house on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamines, Moody said. Her bail was set at $18,000 because she had other outstanding warrants, Moody said.
Bridges was twice acquitted by two juries on charges of shooting a drug dealer eight times in a South-Central Los Angeles rock house in 1989. He received a suspended sentence in 1987 after pleading no contest to charges of making a bomb threat. He was also fined $240 for carrying a concealed firearm in 1983.
