Manny Legace made 58 saves as Canada defeated Finland, 3-2, for its fourth consecutive victory in the world junior hockey championship at Uppsala, Sweden. Canada moved into sole possession of first place in the eight-nation, round-robin tournament, and can clinch the gold medal with victories in two of its last three games.

Twin brothers Peter and Chris Ferraro, both picked by the New York Rangers in last June’s NHL draft, led the United States past Germany, 4-3, for its second consecutive victory in the tournament. Peter Ferraro had two goals and Chris Ferraro scored one to improve the United States’ record to 2-2, although it remains in fifth place.
