COLLEGE FOOTBALL SPOTLIGHT / THE BOWL GAMES : PRIME TIME, PART II
Stanford junior safety John Lynch is facing a big decision. Should he play professional baseball, football or both? Friday, Lynch was one of the key defensive players for the Cardinal with seven tackles during Stanford’s 24-3 victory over Penn State. He was also drafted by the Florida Marlins as a pitcher. After the Blockbuster Bowl, the inevitable question came up.
“I didn’t want to make any decisions until after football, so now I have to think about it,” Lynch said. “But I don’t see myself giving up baseball totally.”
Stanford’s Walsh certainly has his thoughts on the situation. “I’ll tell you this, if he hits a batter, the batter sure better know what he’s doing if he decides to charge the mound,” Walsh said. “Lynch can handle just about anybody.”
