Florida State kicker Dan Mowrey, who missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt during the Seminoles’ 19-16 defeat to Miami at the Orange Bowl in October, is still bitter about the kick.
When Mowrey walked onto the Orange Bowl field earlier this week, during preparations for Friday’s game against Nebraska, he went to the spot of the missed field-goal try and spat.
“There was no need to let a chance like this get by,” he said. “I spit on the ground, rubbed it in a little bit and put it to rest.”
Mowrey was perfect against Nebraska with two field goals and three extra points.
