Bernard King Returns to Bullets
Washington Bullet forward Bernard King, who has been out of action for more than a year because of knee problems, has returned to the team.
“We are happy to see Bernard back with the team and excited at the prospect of having him back on the court for the Bullets,” owner Abe Pollin said Friday. “Once Bernard has passed a physical examination, head coach Wes Unseld will determine when he is ready to play for the Bullets.”
Until then, King will remain on the injured reserve list.
King sat out the 1991-92 season after surgery on Sept. 6, 1991, to remove cartilage from his right knee. Since then, he has been in rehabilitation at his New Jersey home.
The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 28.4 points per game during the 1990-91 season with the Bullets. During that season, he was named to the NBA All-Star team.
