Running the City

Share

There are people who believe you can get something for nothing, as the recent defeat of Proposition N shows.

Even though most sections of the city voted in favor, the San Fernando Valley’s negative vote took it down to defeat.

Our illustrious Councilman Hal Bernson was no help in announcing a few days before the election that he had a plan to add 550 police officers each year without raising taxes. He would simply cut back other departments, ignoring the fact that city administrations have already pared other departments to the bone.

While the police in today’s situation are the most important, the other departments are needed to run the city.

This “Houdini” is still catering to those who are looking for easy solutions. Then there’s Joan Milke Flores, who said she was tired of raising taxes on property owners. For her enlightenment, everyone would pay, whether directly as a homeowner or as a renter through an increase in the rent.
