LONDON — Charles was far ahead of Diana, but Thomas and Sophie were the most popular children’s names of all in 1992, The Times of London said Friday.
The newspapers added up all the first names in its birth announcement columns last year, and found that Thomas knocked James out of first place for the first time since 1964.
Sophie came in just one announcement ahead of Charlotte in the 1992 girls’ list, knocking 1991 leader Emily into third place.
Charles ranked seventh among boys’ names, while Diana didn’t make the list.
The boys’ top 10 in order: Thomas, James, Alexander, William, Oliver, George, Charles, Edward, Henry and Nicholas.
The girls’ top 10: Sophie, Charlotte, Emily, Olivia, Lucy, Alexandra, Harriet, Hannah, Alice and Georgina.
