The suspects, a 15-year-old from Bellflower and a 17-year-old from Artesia, were arrested on suspicion of stealing a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Jeff Cope said.

The theft occurred at 7:35 p.m. in the East Bluff’s beach parking area along Pacific Coast Highway, Cope said.

A Huntington Beach police officer spotted the car as the suspects were getting on the San Diego Freeway and decided to only follow it until help arrived. The suspects abandoned the car near Bellflower Boulevard and Colorado Street and a brief foot chase began, Cope said. Both suspects were arrested at about 10 p.m. Orange County sheriff’s deputies and Long Beach officers assisted in the arrests, he added.
