San Gabriel : Street Defects to Be Studied

Share

The City Council on Tuesday chose BSI Consultants Inc., a planning and engineering firm, to study the condition of San Gabriel streets and recommend schedules for maintenance and repair.

Deputy City Administrator John E. Nowak said the firm will compile the information and analysis in a computer program that will help the city “maximize the life of the pavement” over the next 20 years, beginning with fiscal 1993-94.

The study, which Nowak said should be completed in two to three months, will cost at least $29,900. Streets suspected to have significant defects below the surface will be examined by core samples or other tests at additional cost.

The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission has authorized $75,000 for completion of the project, but Nowak said the city does not anticipate using the full amount.
