LOS ANGELES : Nudist Resort Wins County Zoning Permit
A Topanga Canyon nudist park received final approval from county planners for the zoning permit it needs to stay open.
The approval Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission will end the 21-year legal battle between Elysium Fields, the county and residents of the Santa Monica Mountains, unless one of the groups files an appeal with the County Board of Supervisors.
Opponents of the nudist resort have said they were considering appealing. Stephen F. Rohde, an attorney for the resort, said his clients can live with the permit’s numerous requirements for road improvements and fire protection and will not appeal. Elysium Fields is thought to be the only clothing-optional resort in the county.
