Share

After spending most of Saturday night playing catch-up, Oxnard College tied Bakersfield in the final 30 seconds only to lose a Western State Conference interdivision men’s basketball game, 46-44, on a shot with six seconds to play.

Oxnard trailed, 26-18, at halftime but the host Condors (11-7) outscored the Renegades by the same margin in the second half before Bakersfield’s Tim Levier sank a 14-foot jump shot from just inside the perimeter circle to break a 44-44 tie.

Oxnard called time out and designed a play to get the ball to Stevie Amar, who finished with a game-high 19 points. Amar took a pass at the top of the key, drove the lane and missed an off-balance layup as time ran out.
