Share

The superintendent of the Las Virgenes Unified School District has been selected to head the Conejo Future Foundation, a nonprofit research group aimed at enhancing the quality of life in the Conejo Valley area.

Supt. Albert D. Marley will chair the group’s 18-member board of trustees when the organization holds a retreat Thursday to discuss plans for the upcoming year and the group’s goals for the year 2000. Marley previously served as the board’s secretary. Doris LaViolette, founder of the Calabasas Cityhood Committee, has been chosen as the organization’s vice-chair.

In June, the 20-year-old foundation completed a report called Vision 2020, studying the impact of growth on the region from Thousand Oaks to Calabasas. The report examined issues of transportation, housing, waste management, water and the environment, and also discussed the possibility of creating a new county. It was distributed to officials in the cities of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Calabasas and Agoura Hills.
