Two men stopped for not wearing seat belts were arrested on suspicion of robbery and carrying concealed weapons Tuesday when police officers discovered loaded guns, knit caps and a change of clothes in their car.

Johnny Pedraza, 29, of Sun Valley and his brother, Joseph Pedraza, 27, of Saugus, were pulled over on Vanowen Street near Hollywood Way after an officer noticed that neither was wearing a seat belt, Sgt. Scott Wilson said.

“The officer also noticed they took a while to pull over . . . and it looked like they were moving around trying to hide something,” Wilson said.

During a search of the car, the officer found a backpack filled with two loaded handguns, a change of clothes, knit caps and two black baseball caps, one of which had masking tape covering its logo, Wilson said. The men were arrested and were each being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

“The officer told them the next time they drive through the city of Burbank that perhaps they should wear their seat belts,” Wilson said.
