D.C. BOUND? Orange County Administrative Officer Ernie Schneider made no promises when a Clinton transition team member called from Arkansas to ask if he wants to be considered for undersecretary of the U.S. Interior Department. . . . Schneider says he’s “real flattered” to be considered for the post, which would involve managing day-to-day operations, yet he says he’ll await a formal offer before deciding. But, he pointed out: “I like it here. Plus, I’m not a Democrat.”
