STUDIO CITY : Motorist Held in Passenger’s Death
Police arrested a Sherman Oaks man on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after he allegedly slammed his car into a light pole while under the influence of alcohol, killing a passenger, Los Angeles police said Friday.
Peter Lewis, 43, was headed south on Colfax Avenue about 11:55 p.m. Thursday when he ran off the road and struck a light pole near Chiquita Street, Officer John Baby said. Passenger Larry Martinez, 41, of Warwick, N.Y., was killed in the crash.
Lewis, who was uninjured, had a blood alcohol level that exceeded the legal limit, Baby said.
