WILSHIRE CENTER : McDermott Remains Chamber President

The Wilshire Chamber of Commerce installed its officers for 1993 last week and pledged to provide leadership for the Wilshire Center community.

Richard E. McDermott of the architectural and engineering firm Daniel, Mann, Johnson and Mendenhall will serve as president for a second year. In his first term, McDermott initiated a series of community meetings under the theme “Wilshire Center in Crisis” to address crime, homelessness, loss of businesses in the community, the fate of the Ambassador Hotel and the effects of Metro Rail construction on the Wilshire corridor.

McDermott pointed to the assignment of a police foot patrol in Wilshire Center in October as one result of the community meetings.

Vice presidents named Thursday are Ralph I. Murphy of American Trading Real Estate Properties Inc.; Joel Friedman of Monarch Service Group; Linda D. Hedden of Total Properties Management Co.; Richard B. Quick of Heritage Park Mortgage, and Gary L. Russell of Russell & Associates.

The treasurer is Andrew Miliotis of Wilshire Financial Tower and the secretary is Paula Terrell of Commuter Transportation Service.
