A Reminder That Milken Is No Hero
The Times reported that Michael Milken “has begun work as a $1,300-a-week legal researcher” in the article “Milken Hired by His Lawyer (Jan. 6).
He must pay one-quarter of that money to his halfway house. After taxes, this leaves him about $325 a week. According to another, earlier Times article, Milken is still estimated to be worth several hundred million dollars.
Considering the financial crisis that we are in, Milken should be required to pay back every penny the government spent to feed and house him for his 22 months in jail.
The media need to re-emphasize his illegal, greedy, thoroughly self-centered business practices, and all the people who lost their savings or their jobs because of him.
Milken has shown absolutely no remorse and must not be turned into a hero.
