El Monte : Gang Hearings Requested
The El Monte City Council unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday requesting congressional hearings on gang-related violence in the San Gabriel Valley.
Council member Ernest Gutierrez said he proposed the resolution because cities cannot individually solve the problems caused by gangs and that a national partnership is necessary.
El Monte will now contact other local municipalities to ask U.S. Reps. Matthew G. Martinez and Esteban E. Torres to propose the hearings.
