Content Killed the Chronicle

Share

While many are mourning the passing of the Santa Paula Chronicle, I am glad it’s gone. I know that, while certain citizens in Santa Paula are very upset that it was put out of business, I know an equal number who believe that whoever deals as the Chronicle did will end up just like they are: unemployed.

Let’s look at the straight facts: The Santa Paula Chronicle staff couldn’t objectively cover a story to save its life.

This is the reason that no one subscribed to the Chronicle or wanted to read the swill that they turned out instead of reasonable journalism. Santa Paula has a population of nearly 30,000 people, but the Santa Paula Chronicle couldn’t sell more than 2,500 papers on any day. This says more about the content of the Chronicle than anything else.
