The Anaheim boys’ soccer team, rated No. 10 in Orange County, ran up against a stone wall Wednesday afternoon when it played Brea-Olinda and the result was a 0-0 tie in an Orange League game at Anaheim High School.

The Colonists (9-2-2, 2-0-1 in league) managed five solid shots at Brea goalkeeper Jeff Miller but were unable to score. The Wildcats (7-2-2, 1-0-1) put more pressure on Anaheim goalkeeper Joel Vasquez in the second half but still came up empty.

“I’m happy to get out of here with a tie,” said Brea Coach Chris Woods. “It’s not easy playing Anaheim on their home field, but in my heart, I know my players are disappointed with a tie. We trained all week long, rain or shine, for this game and there was a lot more rain than shine.”

Anaheim Coach Joe Chavez said it was a typical Brea-Anaheim match.

“Brea’s a good opponent,” he said. “We have this type of game with them year after year. We haven’t faced as physical a team as they are this season. They played good physical defense in shutting us down, and we didn’t get the opportunities we’ve gotten in the past. They played their style to perfection.”
