Police Search for Infant’s Mother

Share

Police canvassed a Simi Valley neighborhood Saturday with flyers as authorities continued their search for the mother of a newborn infant found outside a Simi Valley elementary school.

The baby, found by a custodian outside a classroom Friday morning, was in good condition at Ventura County Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said Saturday.

Police believe the mother of the infant might be a teen-age girl who was seen walking in the area of Kuehner Drive and Ardenwood Avenue on Friday morning about an hour after the baby was found, Detective Kathy Vigil said.

On Saturday, police officers knocked on doors and handed out flyers with an artist’s sketch of the girl.

The suspected mother is described as being about 13, having straight, dirty blond hair, light-colored eyes that might have been puffy from crying, and wearing a gray or blue skirt.

Police are asking people with any information to call the Simi Valley Police Department at 583-5910 or 583-6937.
