VALENCIA : Area on Top-50 List of Family Locales

Valencia is one of three California communities listed in a newly published book, “50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family” (Career Press, Hawthorne, N.J.).

Valencia is described by co-authors Lee and Saralee H. Rosenberg as “a gorgeous master-planned community, one of the best commutes to Los Angeles, low crime, ample recreation, choice homes and schools, great climate without the smog, wonderful mountain views.”

Among “possible drawbacks,” the book reports: “California’s golden glow has been tarnished by fiscal and natural disasters. For the first time, more people are moving out than in. Valencia may be an oasis, but it is not an island!”

The authors said they asked experts and lay people, “Where are people moving and why?” and evaluated more than 300 locations on criteria such as employment outlook, economic conditions, quality of education, the environment and ethics.

Sacramento and the San Diego suburb Vista are the other two California communities cited.
