Super TV Month: It happens every January.
With the Super Bowl approaching, football-crazed fans across the nation put down the big bucks for big-screen televisions so they can catch the big game in all of its splendor.
Nearly 15% of the 225,000 or so big-screen TVs sold by Cypress-based Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc. in 1992 occurred during January. That’s slightly higher than December, when sales were driven by the Christmas spirit, Mitsubishi spokeswoman Colleen McKenna said.
And at Ken Cranes, a retail outlet in Buena Park, “Super Bowl is probably the biggest (single) attraction for our big-screen business, especially the last 10 days before the game,” salesman Herb Adler said. As Super Sunday nears, customers demand guarantees that “they can get it now . . . with delivery before Friday or Saturday,” Adler said.
