AHMANSON RANCH : Board Backs Project Services District

Share

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors has taken steps to create a community services district that would ultimately raise taxes to provide services to the huge Ahmanson Ranch development.

The supervisors on Tuesday recommended that the district be formed for the development that they approved in December.

Once built, the project will include a 3,050-dwelling golf course community on 5,433 acres in the hills south of Simi Valley.

It will be up to the Local Agency Formation Commission to approve or deny the application for the community services district. The district must be in place before the land is subdivided for development, said Bruce Smith, manager of the county’s General Plan section.

The district would serve as an interim mechanism for governing the Ahmanson Ranch community as it grows. Residents would operate the district through a locally elected board. Eventually, the development is expected to incorporate as a city, Smith said.
