NORTHRIDGE : College Semester Starts With 350 Fewer Classes

Share

Students starting the spring semester Monday at Cal State Northridge will again be competing for limited seats, with 350 fewer classes than offered last year, campus officials said.

There were 5,196 available classes, compared to 5,549 offered during the 1992 spring semester, a reduction of about 6%, school officials said. The number of students enrolled for spring has also fallen slightly, with an enrollment of 24,844 students, compared to 26,957 a year ago.

State budget cuts this year prompted the cancellation of more than 800 classes for the fall semester. Continued state budget woes have prompted talk by CSUN officials of layoffs and continuing class cuts for the coming school year.
