LONG BEACH : Interim President Named For Cal State Campus

Share

An interim president for the Cal State Long Beach campus has been appointed to replace outgoing president Curtis L. McCray, who is leaving the university at the end of February.

Karl Anatol, now the senior vice president for academic affairs at the university, will hold the position until a permanent successor to McCray is found, CSU Chancellor Barry Munitz announced Wednesday. Anatol is expected to hold the position through the end of this year.

Anatol first came to the Long Beach campus as a speech instructor in 1969, and he has held various administrative and teaching positions during his tenure at the university.

“Anatol is the ideal person to serve because he knows the Long Beach campus so well,” Munitz said of his appointee, who is likely to face crippling state budget cuts during his temporary presidency.
