Gays, the Bible and the Constitution

Share

The opinion expressed by Dorothy Mann contained a misstatement of fact concerning the founding principles of our country and their relevance to the pursuit of civil rights for gays and lesbians.

She states that our Constitution and Bill of Rights were patterned after the truths and principles of the Bible, when in fact, the Founding Fathers took great pains to ensure the separation of church and state.

The basic freedoms that these documents guarantee allow Dorothy Mann to practice the religion of her choice and should also allow me to live my life as a gay man free of discrimination based solely on my sexual orientation.
