Transit Panel Got It Wrong
Nowhere have I read any study of who will be using the proposed monorail over the Ventura Freeway or where the passengers will come from to use the proposed Chandler right of way subway.
Cost should not be the criteria. Service to the public should not be the criteria. Service to the public should be the prime consideration.
The Chandler subway would serve the business communities of North Hollywood, Van Nuys with its Civic Center, the high schools of North Hollywood and Grant High School, also Valley College and Pierce College.
A monorail on the freeway might serve the lawyers and high-priced businesses of Warner Center and would be elitist, not serving the people who could benefit most from rapid transit. Access and parking would obviously be cheaper along the Chandler right of way.
