Man Posing as Police Officer Abducts and Rapes Girl, 9

A man posing as a police officer kidnaped a 9-year-old Van Nuys girl Sunday, handcuffed her, drove her into the mountains and sexually molested her, police said.

The girl was walking home from a convenience store when a man approached her, said he was a police officer, and took her to his car, said Detective Craig Rhudy. The girl told detectives that she saw a handgun in the vehicle.

Once inside, she was handcuffed and driven into the mountains north of the San Fernando Valley, where she was molested, Rhudy said. The man later dropped her off near San Fernando Park.

Rhudy described the kidnaper as a thin white male in his mid-30s, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, with medium-length brown hair and a fair mustache. Rhudy said the car was a blue mid-size sedan with a bumper sticker with green letters. The interior was very dirty, with a strong smell of perfume or cologne.
