OXNARD : Impact Report for Landfill Endorsed

The Weldon Canyon Landfill gained additional backing Tuesday when the Oxnard City Council unanimously approved a report that studies the effect the dump would have on the environment.
After almost no discussion, the environmental impact report was approved by the council, and a letter recommending that the report be certified was sent to the Ventura County planning division.
“Every community has the right to comment on this,” Councilman Andres Herrera said after the meeting. “This is especially true if you’re going to be dumping there.”
Weldon, located between Ventura and Ojai, could eventually replace Oxnard’s Bailard Landfill as the West County’s primary dump, Herrera said.
