Banned in Britain: The program manager at a London movie theater landed in court Thursday over a screening of “A Clockwork Orange,” which its director, Stanley Kubrick, banned from being shown in Britain after it was linked to crimes of violence. The 1971 film can legally be shown in other countries. Jane Giles, 29, was taken to court by the Federation Against Copyright Theft. The copyright belongs to Warner Bros., which, it was said, had not given permission for the screening. Giles pleaded not guilty, and faxed a letter to Warner Bros. apologizing for the showing.
