A Pomona man was arrested in connection with the decapitation of his brother, whose body was found in the house the two men shared with their mother, officials said Sunday.

Police said Charles Henry Bowshier, 25, was undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Los Angeles County Jail, where he was taken after his arrest Saturday morning.

The body of Donald Bowshier, 29, was discovered Friday evening by neighbors who were asked by the mother to help after she arrived at the house on Palmgrove Avenue and saw her son Charles fleeing in bloody clothing.

Police had gone to the home to break up a fight between the two brothers earlier Friday.

Charles Bowshier was spotted early Saturday by a Claremont police officer at a gas station. The suspect led Claremont and California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase on the San Bernardino Freeway until he crashed his truck on an off-ramp near Rialto in San Bernardino County, officials said. Bowshier was not injured.

Officials said they did not know the type of weapon used in the killing.
