Trickle-Down Woes: The art world’s economic woes have trickled down to the art press, forcing Los Angeles-based Art Space magazine to skip its January/February issue because of a lack of advertisers. Ads have been down about 30% for more than a year, the result of the closure of about 30 galleries that were once advertisers. The magazine’s November/December issue was late for the same reason. On the up side, subscriptions and newsstand sales have increased by a third in the last year, bringing total circulation to about 15,000. An enlarged double issue of Art Space is planned for March/April.
