Diamond Bar : School Vandals Sought
Two trailers and a classroom at Castle Rock Elementary School were vandalized over the weekend by unknown suspects who left behind racist graffiti in a room used to teach Asian students, a sheriff’s investigator said.
The school was vandalized between 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, when it was discovered, Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Hansen said. Vandals broke into two trailers through sliding glass windows and may have pried open a classroom door or found it unlocked, Hansen said.
The vandals poured poster paint and stuck glue on the floor and against the walls. Some of the graffiti was harmless, such as “Taggers Rule” and “See You Later, Alligator.” But the room used by Mandarin-speaking students contained slurs against blacks and Asians. School officials estimated damage at $6,000.
In October, vandals caused $25,000 in damage to a vacant home in the 21400 block of Broken Arrow Drive. Racial slurs against blacks were scrawled on the walls. Five Diamond Bar High School students were later arrested.
