Bill Honig’s Conviction
Assembly Speaker Willie Brown has announced that he will only vote to confirm a Democrat when the governor makes his appointment for a successor to Honig. What a trap he attempts to set for the Legislature. The people of California deserve to have only the most capable and dedicated leadership brought to this incredibly important state constitutional office. For Willie Brown to attempt a use of his undeniable political muscle in this issue is another example of his style of political leadership.
We must encourage Gov. Wilson’s most thoughtful consideration as we all recognize the need for the highest possible level of leadership in the vast state Department of Education. The people of California deserve the very best of either party.
