SAN FRANCISCO —
Mayor Frank Jordan has asked the Police Commission to look into charges that Police Chief Anthony Ribera sexually harassed a female public affairs officer.
Ribera denied Friday that he harassed Officer Joanne Welsh, who leveled the charge in an interview with the San Francisco Examiner. Welsh said that Ribera grabbed and kissed her in October, 1989. Ribera said the allegations surfaced after he had a run-in with Bill Maher, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors who is dating Welsh.
