Derrick McKey’s layup with four-tenths of a second left gave the Seattle SuperSonics a 95-94 victory over Phoenix at Seattle Saturday night, ending the Suns’ five-game winning streak.

Charley Barkley, who had 33 points, gave the Suns a 94-93 lead on a 17-foot jump shot with 5.2 seconds remaining. McKey then took Nate McMillan’s inbounds pass and drove past Dan Majerle for his winning basket.

The Suns, who have the league’s best road record at 17-9, scored a season-low 38 points in the second half. Seattle made up a 56-44 halftime deficit to tie the score, 71-71, after three quarters, then used a 10-3 run to take an 86-79 lead with 4:29 remaining.

“We thought the game was over at the end of the half, and we didn’t get back into the flow of the game until late in the fourth quarter,” Barkley said.

Ricky Pierce scored 25 points, and Shawn Kemp had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Sonics.

Seattle’s defense forced the Suns into 18 turnovers and held the NBA’s highest-scoring team under 100 for only the second time this season.

Milwaukee 117, Indiana 115--Frank Brickowski scored 10 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and the Bucks held on to beat the Pacers at Milwaukee.

Brickowski made all 15 of his free throws and had 13 rebounds as Milwaukee extended Indiana’s losing streak to six.

Milwaukee rookie Todd Day, who scored 23 points, dislocated his left elbow in the fourth quarter and could be sidelined for the rest of the season.

“The cost we paid was dear,” Buck Coach Mike Dunleavy said. “We are hoping that there is not a fracture involved. In any case, it’s probably a season-ending injury. So it’s a tough break for him because he’s been playing so well for us.”

Detlef Schrempf had 34 points for Indiana, including 22 in the final quarter. Reggie Miller added 26, 17 of them in the first quarter.

Atlanta 121, Utah 112--Dominique Wilkins scored 22 of his 43 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks fend off a frantic Jazz rally at Salt Lake City.

Wilkins had 15 points in a 21-13 run that gave the Hawks a 104-90 lead with 3:32 left, then added a dunk and seven free throw down the stretch to end Utah’s three-game winning streak.

Utah’s John Stockton scored 32 points, including three three-point baskets in a 23-second span that pulled Utah to within five points with 44 seconds to play.

The Hawks also got 18 points from Mookie Blaylock, and 17 points and 16 rebounds from Kevin Willis.

“When I shot it (in the fourth quarter), I knew it was good,” Wilkins said. “I mean you could feel it. Stockton was hitting shots like crazy. We just tried to get the ball into my hands or Mookie’s.”

San Antonio 90, Boston 85--David Robinson scored 28 points and the Spurs won their seventh consecutive game by defeating the Celtics at San Antonio.

The Spurs, 22-4 at HemisFair Arena, have won 17 of their last 18 games, and 22 of 25 under Coach John Lucas.

The Celtics, who saw their four-game winning streak end, were led by Robert Parish with 18 points and Reggie Lewis with 17.

Denver 123, Washington 104--Reserve guard Robert Pack matched his career high with 21 points on eight-for-10 shooting to lead the Nuggets to their 10th consecutive home victory.

Pack scored 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Nuggets took their largest lead, 113-87, with 5:05 left. Washington was led by Buck Johnson with 21 points.

Cleveland 116, Chicago 111--Craig Ehlo’s three-point basket, his sixth of the game, put the Cavaliers in front with 46 seconds remaining at Chicago, as the Bulls lost despite Michael Jordan’s return.

Ehlo finished with 24 points and Brad Daugherty scored 25, as the Cavaliers won for the seventh time in their last eight games and climbed to within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Bulls in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference.

“My shot was just falling tonight,” Ehlo said. “We were trying to go to Brad, but they were double-teaming him so they kicked it back out to me. We owed them one because they came in and took one from us in our place opening night.”

Jordan, who served a one-game suspension Friday for punching Indiana’s Reggie Miller, started slowly, scoring two points in the first quarter, but he finished with 25. Scottie Pippen also had 25.

Philadelphia 119, Dallas 96--Jeff Hornacek’s eight points fueled a 23-4 spurt to start the second period, lifting the 76ers at Dallas.

Hornacek finished with 20 points and 11 assists and rookie Clarence Weatherspoon scored 19 points for Philadelphia, which ended a six-game losing streak.

The Mavericks, who lost their fifth in a row and dropped to 4-43, stayed on a pace to challenge the 76ers’ 1972-73 record of 9-73, the worst in NBA history. Randy White had 20 points for Dallas.

Houston 97, Minnesota 88--Otis Thorpe scored 12 of his 23 points in the decisive third quarter and Hakeem Olajuwon had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Rockets at Minneapolis.

Carl Herrera scored 10 points and had a career-high 14 rebounds for the Rockets, who played their fourth game in six nights on the road. Houston has won 14 of 19 games, including seven of 10 on the road.

Doug West scored 18 points for Minnesota, which made just 25% of its shots in the third quarter and only 41% for the game. The Timberwolves have won more games on the road (6-16) than at home (5-18) this season.

Golden State 111, Sacramento 110--Latrell Sprewell made a 16-foot jumper with 4.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors a victory over the Kings at Sacramento.

The victory ended an eight-game losing streak for Golden State. Sprewell and Tim Hardaway each scored 23 points for the Warriors, who won for only the second time in their last 17 games.
