Re: “Ten Nominees for Tomorrow’s Top Ski Destination,” Jan. 24. Hopefully, Grand Targhee, Wyo., will be spared the same fate as Steamboat Springs, Colo.--crowded with West Coast weekend trippers. In concentrating on the “bottom line” in the story, you neglected several numbers that were not preceded by dollar signs. The ones I remember, from nine memorable days in 1989, were 109 powdery inches spread over 15,000 acres which I shared with 50 other skiers. (Yes, that’s 300 acres per.) With any luck, Targhee will remain an undiscovered paradise, especially if readers attempt to follow your advice and try to get there via Jackson Hole instead of far more accessible Idaho Falls.
