Consumer Groups Urge Inquiry of GM Pickup Trucks: Consumer groups have asked the Justice Department to investigate General Motors Corp., charging that the auto maker covered up defects in its pickup trucks by destroying documents and keeping crash tests secret. Public Citizen and the Center for Auto Safety presented taped depositions of GM employees saying the company shredded important truck documents while denying that it had conducted its own crash tests on the trucks.
