San Marino : School Will Be Renovated

Share

The City Council has voted to spend $131,000 in federal funds to renovate a building that houses a school for handicapped children.

The city will repair the roof, ceiling, floors and fire alarm at Stoneman School, 1560 Pasqualito Drive. San Marino owns the property and the building in which classes take place, but the program is operated by Los Angeles County, Assistant City Manager Debbie Bell said.

In other action, the council approved an amendment making it illegal to park in driveway aprons, the strip of cement between the curb and the street.

The change in the law aims to prevent cars parked in driveways from jutting into the roadway, thus causing a potential hazard.

First-time violators will receive a warning to park on the street. Tickets for further violations will be $20, Bell said.
