LOS ANGELES : Metrolink to Add 10 Midday Trains Next Week

Share

In an effort to win more riders, Metrolink officials will add 10 midday trains beginning Monday.

Also on Monday, Metrolink officials will open a station in Montclair at 5091 Richton St., north of the Montclair Plaza mall.

The new trains, dubbed “Flex Trains,” will offer reduced fares between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The fares will be discounted 25% off the regular fare for adults and 50% off for passengers 18 and younger.

Metrolink officials say the new trains are in response to riders who asked for additional service so that they would not be trapped in the middle of the day, when trains were not running. Under the previous schedule, Metrolink ran 24 trains each weekday on three lines: San Bernardino, Santa Clarita and Ventura County. With the new trains, a total of 34 trains will run--filling the midday void.
