COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pacific Christian Gets Big Night from Ross

Charles Ross had 37 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Pacific Christian to a 124-104 victory over Simpson in the first round of the National Christian College Athletic Assn. West Regional Friday at Cal State Fullerton.

Ruxton Schmietenknop added 29 points and Erick Bajus had 20 points for Pacific Christian (21-11), which advances to play San Jose Christian, a 101-64 winner over LIFE Bible, today in the championship.

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 96, Chapman 53--Christine Rodness and Carrie Schmidt each had 14 points for Cal Poly (8-12, 5-4).

Famisha Jones had 12 points for Chapman (2-21, 0-10), which lost its 11th consecutive game.

In nonconference women’s gymnastics:

Cal State Fullerton 186.6, Alaska Anchorage 174.2--Christi Clifford won the individual all-around with a score of 38.35 for the Titans in Tucson, Ariz.

In the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:

Brigham Young 3, UC Irvine 0--Scott Clarey had eight kills for UC Irvine (1-7, 0-6). Irvine lost 15-2, 15-4, and 15-8.
