South El Monte : Center Gets Funds to Grow
The City Council last week allocated $75,000 to expand the Mini-Center, a city-operated child-care facility near the Civic Center.
The money will come from $405,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds that the city received for fiscal year 1993-94.
Child Services, the city agency that runs the Mini-Center, also will receive $20,000 to subsidize child-care costs for low-income families.
Other city programs that received federal funding include $15,000 for graffiti removal. Family Wellness, a family counseling service, and Project You-Turn, a gang intervention program, will receive $16,500 each.
