Myopia, Generosity in Newport Beach
So Newport-Mesa School Board President Roderick H. MacMillian considers his school district to be suffering from “an image problem” (“Schools Get Poor Grades in Residents’ Report Card,” Feb. 14).
Meanwhile, parents and teachers are outraged about the embezzlement of $4 million by a top district official, overcrowded classrooms, lack of textbooks and cuts in art, music, and athletics. No wonder resident Jim Baldwin thinks “the school board is out of whack.”
