Rescuers located a missing Anaheim Hills snowboarder after he spent a night in the frigid mountains near Incline Village, Nev., authorities said Saturday.

Scott W. Hayes, 28, was found in good condition in an abandoned cabin about 11 p.m. Friday night, Washoe County Sheriff Lt. James Ganyon said.

Hayes was last seen snowboarding by himself at the Diamond Peak Ski Resort at 2 p.m. Thursday. His girlfriend reported him missing a few hours later.

Rescuers used three teams of dogs to help locate Hayes. The cabin where he spent the night is in a drainage area about two miles south of the resort.

Heavy snow fell over the area and temperatures dropped to about 30 degrees the night Hayes was missing, authorities said.

Search teams located Hayes in the same area where a missing skier from Costa Mesa was found early last month. Dale Ellis, a 39-year-old physician, was on the verge of hypothermia when he was rescued, authorities said.

Hayes and Ellis both headed down the same drainage area after leaving the ski resort. The drainage area leads away from the resort.
