Share

Cal Lutheran University will present its annual Creative Options for women March 6, offering 69 workshops from “Sex, Songs and Censorship” to “Body Language: Did I Say That?”

More than 550 women have already registered for the program, which includes a choice of three workshops and a keynote address by Shirley Mount Hufstedler, a former judge who served as secretary of education for President Jimmy Carter.

Several hundred slots are still open, organizers said. Registration continues through Sunday.

Now in its 14th year, Creative Options offers women financial, medical and personal advice through small seminars chaired by Cal Lutheran faculty and local experts.

Participants can explore issues ranging from homosexuality to environmental activism. For the career-minded, there’s advice about writing resumes, entering the job market and breaking the glass ceiling that keeps women from high management positions.

Those who just want to kick up their heels can sign up for a self-defense workshop or a seminar that promises to teach the “hottest new dance craze,” country line dancing.

For applications, call the Cal Lutheran Women’s Resource Center at 493-3345. Creative Options costs $18; seniors and students can attend for half-price. Care is available for children ages 3 to 9.

Cal Lutheran is also accepting applications for the Matthews Management Forum, a round-table discussion with business and civic leaders on the topic, “The Enemy Is Us: Personal Fulfillment Vs. Professional Excellence.” For information on the forum, which is open to the public, call 493-3151. The registration deadline is Thursday.
