Tracking Violence: At least 25% of major network prime-time programming was rated “very violent” by a recent study of the Illinois-based National Coalition on Television Violence. The study, which tracked programming during the 1992 fall season, found Fox to be the most violent network, averaging 11 “acts of violence” (hostile acts committed with the intention of hurting another person) per hour. CBS came in second with nine. The study ranked ABC’s “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” as the most violent network show, averaging 60 such acts, followed by “Covington Cross” (ABC), “The Hat Squad” (CBS), “Raven” (CBS), “Angel Street” (CBS), “Top Cops” (CBS), “The Edge” (Fox), “FBI: The Untold Stories” (ABC), “Final Appeal” (NBC) and “America’s Most Wanted” (Fox).
