SAN CLEMENTE : Commuter Station at North Beach Urged
City Council members on Wednesday will give further consideration to a proposal to build a new commuter train station at North Beach near the Ole Hanson Beach Club.
In September, the council tentatively supported the effort to create a Metrolink stop at North Beach, rather than at the existing Amtrak depot at the base of the San Clemente Pier.
City planners, working in cooperation with the Orange County Transportation Authority, will be seeking a formal vote of support from the City Council during the meeting Wednesday.
About $1.3 million in Proposition 116 money has been set aside for the planning and construction of the San Clemente station, according to a city report.
