PLACENTIA : Police Identify Man Killed in Bar Attack

Share

Police on Monday identified a man killed in a bar Saturday night as Eduardo Javier Flores, 26, of Fullerton.

Flores was killed at the 301 Club in Placentia, apparently after an argument with other customers watching championship boxing matches televised from Mexico City, police said.

Placentia Police Sgt. Jay Fricke said Flores was with relatives at the club in the 300 block of West Santa Fe Avenue about 8:45 p.m. when his group exchanged angry words with another group of bar patrons.

When Flores went to the restroom he was attacked by someone wielding a sharp instrument. Fricke said the victim apparently dragged himself outside the bar, where he was found. He died a short time later.

Fricke said police have not had many problems with the club, which is in the older Santa Fe district of the city. But Mayor Maria Moreno, who lives in the area, said she is concerned about the violence and suggested the need for a neighborhood meeting, perhaps later this week.

Fricke said the investigation into Flores’ death is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Corinne Loomis at (714) 993-8146.
